Now Available from the Secretary of State – Just in time for the August 5 election:
"It's time to vote" text and email reminders
For the first time, Michigan voters can sign-up to receive free text or email reminders from the Michigan Secretary of State's office whenever an upcoming election is around the corner.
To sign up, go to michigan.gov/sos and click on the red envelope located with all the social media icons towards the bottom of the page.
After inputting your email or mobile phone number, you will be asked to choose the updates from the Secretary of State that you would like to receive.
These include
- Updates from Michigan's Secretary of State about his/her office and initiatives
- Elections and voter information such as reminders about upcoming elections
- A daily digest of Twitter activity
- Monthly traffic safety news geared for teen drivers and their parents that will include practice driving tips and new laws
- Renewal reminders for license plate tabs.
After signing up, you will have the option to request additional notifications from many State of Michigan offices and departments such as the Office of the Governor, the DNR, and the Michigan Lottery.

Polls are open Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a statewide election.
