Arthur Lesow Community Center Renovations

Thanks to the City’s efforts to enhance our community, the Arthur Lesow Community Center will be undergoing significant renovations. In order to continue library services within the community, the L.S. Navarre Branch will temporarily relocate while improvements are underway.

When will the library close at its current address in the Arthur Leslow Community Center?

Starting Monday, November 11, 2024, the branch will close in order to pack and prepare to move to a temporary location.

Where is the library moving?

L.S. Navarre Branch Library will be temporarily relocated to 1104 East Fourth Street, Monroe, MI, 48161. It is expected to take several weeks to transition staff, materials, and technology needed to provide library services to the community.

When will the library reopen at its temporary location?

Work is currently underway to prepare the L.S. Navarre Branch Library’s temporary location site and opening details are still in development. An official date will be announced as soon as possible.

 

More About the Renovation Project

This large-scale renovation is part of the City of Monroe’s vision to create a community campus that will house the L.S. Navarre Branch Library, Learning Bank, and the Opportunity Center. The renovations will focus on improving accessibility, upgrading technology, and creating inviting spaces for study, collaboration, and community events.

The initiative is made possible through a generous $7.8 million dollar grant from the State of Michigan. “We are incredibly grateful to the City of Monroe for their support, through this grant, which allows us to make significant improvements to our facilities,” said Library Director, Nancy Bellaire. “We understand that the library is a vital resource to our community, and we appreciate our patrons’ patience. These renovations will help us create a modern and welcoming space that meets the evolving needs of our patrons.”
