Michigan now has 1.2 million drivers that are age 65 or older, and that number is growing. To help these drivers maintain their driver’s license for as long as it is safe, the Secretary of State’s Office now offers a great resource: Michigan’s Guide for Aging Drivers and Their Families. This guide provides information on the licensing process, resources to help maintain safe driving, alternative transportation options and more. Request or download a free copy at Michigan.gov/sos. Print copies of the guide are also available at all Secretary of State branch offices and most branches of the Monroe County Library System (as well as many public libraries in Michigan).

The Monroe County Library System also subscribes to a website that provides access to FREE driving permit practice tests at Driving-Tests.org. Before taking the official test at the Secretary of State's office, why not practice first on any of the following:
  • 10 car practice tests
  • 6 motorcycle practice tests
  • 3 CDL (Commercial Driver's License) practice tests
  • 3 online driver's manual (car, motorcycle, CDL)
  • An FAQ section with detailed answers to 100+ DMV-related questions
