Memories of Orchard East

The Monroe County Library System, in partnership with the Opportunity Center at the ALCC and the City of Monroe, have created a Digital Archive to preserve and celebrate the history and memories of the Orchard East Neighborhood of Monroe, Michigan.

Inside this collection you will find photos, documents and newspaper articles relating to the unique cultural and economic history of the Orchard East. Records from churches, businesses, schools and community activism and events have been scanned and curated for easier accessibility and public interaction.

We welcome personal submissions to this collection with the intention of showcasing a broad and inclusive lens into this significant part of Monroe County, Michigan’s history.
